Thing a day 27 & 28

Ending in poor form with another double catch up post - but at least I managed the month! Its been fun, and really made me think about my productivity and good use of time each day. Two more 20 minute (unfinished) things to end with:
TAD 27 - inspired by other TADers, I wanted to make something decorative/crafty/wearable! So here's the beginning of a rose brooch. Just need to add more petals in the middle, leaves, and tighten it together a bit.
TAD 28 - Yet another sketchbook page! I have a bit of a theme of weird rabbit suits going in my work, so here's a moody chap in one to complete my Things A Day...

See you in a year :)

Thing a Day 25 & 26

Few experimental bits today, been mostly researching the past couple of days so not much time for making!
I'm fiddling around with a few ideas for zines, TAD25 is another drawing for one relating to metaphysics (being, entities, objects, voids...) whilst TAD26 is a digital experiment using photos and screencaps as aesthetic 'found images'.

So today I went to a life drawing class with a bit of a twist - it was burlesque themed! I've not done any life drawing for about a year so rather rusty, but it was pretty fun.
I have three big challenges though: 1) drawing women, 2) drawing fast, 3) drawing large scale. And this was all three - aaaaaargh! This was a 15 minute pose i think.

Thing a day 20 & 21

Still doing at least a 'thing' a day - but still making the odd double post to catch up for whatever reason, gah! I thought one a day would be easy ;)

20 - Nothing much impressive to look at, but very fun to do. These are just some sketches from a trip to the local gallery/museum yesterday - I haven't sketched 'on site' in a museum for ages and ages, so it was a great thing to try again. Here i was studying a minotaur from a few angles, and some very small egyptian pieces. I really hope to do this again soon and do some longer studies.

21 - This weeks food thing: Vegan pastries. I love making things from scratch, so you can have it exactly as you want (although I did cheat a bit and use pre-made pastry sheets).
Not many ingredients in today so these consist of: tomato puree, fresh plum tomatoes, fresh garlic (lots!), mixed herbs, red pepper, mushroom. I also added some vegan 'chicken' slices and some hummus on the side. Cheap and tasty (and the leftovers are good cold tomorrow!)

A very useful 20 minute 'thing' today!
I'm terrible for writing notes and ideas on my hand, on scraps of paper, in my phone, on the table....so I needed a new system to keep them all together! So here we go, my post-it wall in my studio. This was one pack of notes, I'm probably going to fill the walls..

Thing a day 17 & 18

A double post catch up - my internet was being unco-operative last night!
All in-progress things lately as I'm working on more time consuming pieces.

Thing a day 17: Playing around with making a drawing across a grid of seperate pieces of card. In this way, I'm essentially making a number of small drawings that are somewhat abstract on their own, but can be joined to make 'sense' (or 'incorrectly' joined to make a different image). Oh, and that picture its based on is Albert Camus!

Thing a day 18: A sketched plan for a drawing largely based on a piece by Mucha. I was going to just do a study at first, but started adding my own bits (skull face, antlers....)

A food one today! Might aim to do one food post a week.
I usually only have a quick snack lunch but i made something a bit more substantial today -This might not look like much, but it was very very tasty (and vegan).
Ingredients: plain couscous, canned tomatoes, fresh plum tomatoes, chopped fresh garlic, mixed herbs, red onion, red pepper, fried tofu, kidney beans, and some 'fake chicken' vegan slices.
